DINRAPUC “Low cost detection for early diagnosis of nosocomial infections and rational use of antibiotics in critically ill patients” is a project of subprogram INNPACTO 2011 of the Ministry of Economy and Competitiveness.

The project is coordinated by iMICROQ and involves the University Rovira i Virgili, the Health Research Institute Pere Virgili and the company Francisco Albero S.A.U.

The main goal of the project is to improve the effectiveness, efficiency and safety in the diagnosis and treatment of nosocomial respiratory infections using a detection device to identify the infection and to choose the most appropriate antibiotic therapy for patients within the first 8 hours of admission to the critical care unit.

This device will reduce the mortality rate of these patients (survival rate in these patients decreases by 7.2% per hour) and significantly reduce hospitalization in ICU (current average of 7.45 days). The device will have a significant impact on the effectiveness of the healthcare system, the quality of life of patients and improved survival expectations.
